 My precious Bryce,

This certainly has been a hard year.  I have not seen you very much, although this summer you and Bowen and Caden and Kiera and I would go for creek walks pretty much every Wednesday because there was nothing else to do.  THat was fun and it kept us outside which I just love and I hope all of you will always love the outdoors and I see that you already do. 

The other day I gave you a jewelry catalog that I got in the mail and told you that I thought you should have a special piece of jewelry for your birthday, so you should look and get some ideas.  You were so super excited.  You also told me you would love to spend a night a Chautauqua Institute and be able to wake up in the morning and just walk around there, so maybe we will do that too.   13 is a very special age and I remember when I turned 13, sitting on my cake was a little jewelry box with my birthstone ring in it from my sister, Aunt Judy.   It was the best thing I ever received.  I still have it.

 My precious Bryce

I am sure glad I was able to get you to NYC two years ago.  After this pandemic, I don't think NYC will ever be the same.  It is like a ghost town now.   We were all hoping that we could go back some day with all the cousins and see a play and the Rockefeller tree again.  We did watch the  Rockett's  which was a great Christmas show. 

This virus sure has taken its toll on families and relationships.  The whole thing is so sad because when you get to be my age, you just look back and wonder where life has gone so quickly.  I just don't know how you could slow it down and now, it is kinda standing still and we are all alone.  

When your daddy was little I was getting the lights out to decorate and i was testing them in the outlets and they were on the floor and your daddy goes "OHHHH mommy LOOK"  he was so excited about the lights. It was so much fun!

We won't be having Thanksgiving together this year and that makes me cry.  I miss you so much

 My little sweetheart.

You are Bowen are doing virtual school this semester and Papa and I are living at lake house because Brian and Bibi are living in our house.  So, I have been going to your house one day a week while Papa goes to work and hang out with you and Bowen. 

Yesterday I was helping you with your math and mama said you said last night that i did a better job than daddy. :)

When we were getting ready to leave i gave you a hug and you said "will I see you before you leave for Florida"? and I said no, and you said "then I have to give you another hug"  Wow, made my day!! and you told me you were going to facetime me on my birthday and I said "wow, I am really excited, b/c I know how hard that is for you to facetime"  maybe we will be able to do more of it.

You did some cross country this year and you really have great form when you run.  I sent you a couple pictures of you running and you really liked them.

 My dear Bryce,

You are such a sweetie and I sure love you.    For your birthday I asked what you wanted and you said "gift cards and for you to take me shopping"  What a great thing and I loved it.  It took us some time to figure out a time to get together and then when we got to the stores, since it is the pandemic, a lot of the shelves were either empty or didn't have much of a selection, which was sad.  You did find a couple things and now you still have some left over money on your cards. 

You are doing virtual school this year, at least part of the year.  I am reading a book to you and Bowen, so you can listen to it when you have time.

My sweetest Bryce,
I love you so much and you usually are so quiet that we don't get to talk very much.  When you are here, Kiera is always here, so I don't get to spend as much time as I like with you, to actually talk.
We took all the grandkids to feed the fish and the ducks who walk on the fish and you sat in the front seat with me.  How wonderful that was.  We actually got to say a few words between Kiera's chattering.
I asked you a bit ago what you would like for your birthday and you said "gift cards and then you can take me shopping"  That sounded great to me.  I would take you every week, if I could. 
Last weekend Papa and I took you and Annie and Aly and her friend to the lake house to spend the day, just you girls.  That was really nice, and you enjoyed spending time with Annie without little people there. :)
You missed the last part of 5th grade this year because of the pandemic.  You are really ready to go back to school and see your friends.  I hope this happens sooner than later b/c it is so hard on all the kids who are so isolated and can't do all their normal activities.
I have showed you some pictures of me when I was your age and you could see how much we look alike. How exciting for me to see myself in such a sweet person
